CANADIAN FOUNDATION FOR AIDS RESEARCH
Sep 2014
The Canadian Foundation for AIDS Research (CANFAR) is the only national charitable foundation that raises awareness to generate funds for research into all aspects of HIV infection and AIDS. During my time there as their in-house designer, I undertook refreshing the brand to better communicate the advancements that had been made in HIV and AIDS research.
With scientific breakthroughs, in part funded by CANFAR, HIV and AIDS is no longer a death sentence, and the communications and marketing pieces made a shift toward a more optimistic future.
Symbolic red mingled with fresh, bright whites, and clinical grey palettes helped create a unified brand that felt stoic without being too heavy or overwhelming. This was coupled with straight-forward messaging and typography which sought to inform and update CANFAR’s large donor base.
Creative ranged from annual reports and direct mail pieces to t-shirts and out-of-home advertisements including subway advertisements and banners on Bloor Street.
